St Benedict Biscop Church has been at the heart of Wombourne village for over a thousand years. During medieval times Wombourne remained a small community of no more than a couple of dozen families, but gradually the Church evolved, the woodor wattle and daub of Saxon times was replaced by local sandstone. Georgian prints of the Church from the beginning of the nineteenth century show a typical small country Church of nave, aisle, chancel, tower and spire.
The theme of this year’s flower show is ‘Musicals’ and Berriman Eaton have sponsored the Billy Elliot stand (shown below).
The flower show is open to view from Friday 3rd June – Monday 6th June at St Benedict Biscop C of E Church, Church Road, Wombourne, WV5 9EZ.
It is definitely worth a visit!
