Last month we introduced to you our new Berriman Eaton charity initiative – BE in the Community. The aim is to take our role in the communities in which we work to the next level, not just in terms of donations but to roll our sleeves up and work with charities that do such a great job within the region.
So in September, Charlotte, Vicky, Ellie and Lynn spent a day volunteering at the Hope House Shop in Bridgnorth. Hope House is an incredible charity which provides support for terminally ill children and young adults and their families, be that from their Oswestry or Conwy hospices or within the family home. Services range from respite and end of life care to counselling,
bereavement support and advocacy. They have a number of charity shops including an online shop, which helps them to raise much needed funds to continue their important work.
Our team got stuck in sorting through the collection bags that people had donated. They promise us they were working and not just having a mooch for any bargains. In fact, they steamed, sized, priced and labelled the clothes ready for sale.
It’s different to selling homes, but there is still an element of understanding what people will want and how to present it; and talking to the staff and volunteers there about their experiences with Hope House was very humbling.
Each month BE in the community will get involved in different fundraising and support activities across all the areas that our offices cover. Different members of the team will be selected each time and we’ll keep you updated on our progress here as well as on our Facebook page so please remember to LIKE & SHARE!!
